Hi Everyone! My name is Bonnie Guinn and I am a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist in Knoxville, TN. I will
be using this site as a hub for information gathering while compiling a project for ALHE4060. I will focus my research on
the risks and benefits of carotid stenting in asymptomatic patients. There are many ongoing studies, trials, and registries
regarding this topic. Hopefully, this type of stenting will gain CMS reimbursement within the next few years.
I will
tell you a little about myself. I am 24 years old, married and have 2 kids. Jackson is my oldest child; he is 2 and Carson
is my youngest he was born on Labor Day. I am married to an accountant who is a work-a-holic but is very family oriented.
My job consists of treating stenoses of the blood vessels in the body. I also work with pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators.
I work very closely with vascular surgeons and cardiologists. We stent any blood vessel from the carotids down to the lower
leg (or farther if the vessel is large enough). I love my job, however it is very demanding. I take call every other night
and every other weekend, which means that the hospital owns me for half the month. I love my family and I love helping
others. I am outgoing but also very observant (meaning I know when to keep my mouth shut when necessary). I hope this
gives everyone a little idea about who I am, what I do, and what I hope to accomplish with my research project.
